Wellbeing
At Arcadia Vale Public School, wellbeing and learning go hand in hand
At Arcadia Vale, we believe every student deserves to feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. Our school culture is grounded in High Expectation Relationships, where strong, respectful connections between students, staff and families help every child thrive, academically, socially and emotionally.
Wellbeing is not an add-on at AVPS, it is embedded in everything we do. Whether your child needs support for their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to walk alongside them and your family.
How we support student wellbeing at AVPS
Every day, in every classroom and playground, we support student wellbeing through:
-
A Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework, with clear expectations for respectful relationships and safe, inclusive behaviour.
-
Strong teacher-student relationships built on care, trust, and high expectations.
-
Access to a dedicated school counsellor, learning support staff, and health care planning for students with medical needs.
-
Tailored transition programs to support new students and those changing year levels, including the employment of a Transition Support Officer who works across both our school and the local Pre-School.
-
Targeted programs that build resilience, emotional literacy and connection, including The Resilience Project's GEM (Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness) framework.
-
Yarning Circles and morning meetings that promote voice, belonging, and emotional regulation.
-
Interest-based student clubs that foster friendships, creativity, and confidence:
- Girls Empowered
- Garden Club
- Frog Pond Club
- Run Club
- Rubik’s Cube Club
- Book Club
- Art Club
... and the list keeps growing based on student interest and voice!
-
Staff who know every child by name, strength and need, working closely with families to personalise care and support.
-
Open communication, where wellbeing is everyone’s business and no concern is too small to raise.
At AVPS, we don’t just teach wellbeing we live it. Our vision is for every student to feel known, supported and inspired to do their best, every day.
